How to Calculate Your Running Pace

Running pace is the time it takes you to cover a set distance, usually expressed as minutes per kilometre or minutes per mile. Knowing your pace helps you plan training sessions, set race targets, and track your improvement over time.

The formula is simple:

Pace = Total Time Γ· Distance

For example, if you ran 10 km in 50 minutes, your pace is 50 Γ· 10 = 5:00 per km. To find your finish time, multiply your pace by the distance. To find the distance you covered, divide your total time by your pace.

Our calculator handles the maths for you. Just fill in any two of the three fields β€” distance, time, or pace β€” and the third is calculated automatically. You can also switch between kilometres and miles at any time, and your values will convert instantly.
