Dovedale Dash The Dovedale Dash on 5 October 2025 is an 8km (4 3/4 mile) cross country race in the south of the Derbyshire Peak District. The course explores the picturesque area around the village of Thorpe, near Ashbourne and Dovedale. It is mainly along field paths and open ground in the valleys of the river Dove and Manifold. One of the excitements is the crossing of the rivers Dove at the well known Stepping Stones. This is a popular annual race with 1200-1400 runners lining up on the pastures in front of Thorpe Cloud and all going as fast as they can down through narrow Lin dale to cross the cold river Dove. There is also a separate children's race of ~ 1 1/4 mile held before the main event. Kids' ~ 1 1/4 mile 8K / 4 3/4 miles Cross Country
