Race The Train Tywyn Race The Train Tywyn on 16 August 2025 is a popular annual charity event for the Rotary Club of Tywyn. The original 14 mile race starts on the crest of the main railway line bridge adjacent to the Talyllyn Railway station and takes place alongside, as far as practicable, the route taken by the Talyllyn Railway on its journey to Abergynolwyn and back. Both the runners and the train are started by the train whistle ordered by the timekeeper. As well as the original race, there are also 3.5 , 5.5 and 6.2 mile (10km) options. All courses use a mixture of public roads, lanes, un-metalled roads, tracks, agricultural land, and rough grazing pastures. Off Road/Trail 3.5 miles 5.5 miles 10K 14 miles
