
Sunderland Harriers & AC is one of the premier running clubs in the North East of England, established in 1884. The club welcomes new members of all abilities and offers a free beginner s running program that meets every Friday at 6pm at the Silksworth Sports Complex. Sunderland Harriers & AC organizes a variety of competitive events, including the Ernie Johnson Memorial Penshaw Hill Race and the Sunderland 5k, as well as local Harrier League cross country events and club relay races. Members also have access to regular training sessions led by qualified coaches.

The Northumbrian Trail Runs The Northumbrian Trail Runs on 28 June 2026 include a 48K Ultra and 28K Run on newly created trails at Kielder Water. Starting at Kielder Waterside while the Northumbrian Triathletes are completing their bike leg, you will join the triathlon run loop after completing a spectacular 25km loop taking in the new Lonesome Pine trail and some of the best views of Kielder Water. Get some extra support from your friends and family over the final two laps of bull crag, where you will pass through the event village before finishing alongside your fellow runners and triathletes at the lake’s edge.
