
Sunderland Strollers is a sociable running club with over 300 members, 40% of whom are women, with an age range from 21 to 78 years old. The club is based at the Beacon of Light adjacent to the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. Members can take running as seriously as they like, with some never racing and others competing regularly from 5km to ultramarathon distances. The club entry fee of £35 per year includes the England Athletics (UKA) registration fee, which provides a £2 discount on UKA races. Sunderland Strollers participate in the North East Harrier League during the cross-country season and enter teams into various local relay races. They also host the annual Pier to Pier Race in May.
